Community Investment Fund
Catalyst Corporate and the National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) partner to give credit unions numerous investment options for supporting the Community Investment Fund (CIF) – a way to help consumers access education, tools and resources to achieve financial freedom through credit unions.
The CIF allows credit unions to invest in either government-issued securities or negotiable certificates of deposit, while donating a percentage of the interest earned to the CIF – a donation that helps national and state credit union foundations. Securities and share certificates may be purchased through Catalyst Corporate and will be held in safekeeping at Alaska USA Trust Company.
Why support CIF?
Credit unions earn revenue while giving back to the movement.
- A wide range of investment options is available to ensure balance sheet needs are met.
- Charitable contributions are made from investment returns rather than operating income.
- It's easy.
Share a "slice of the pie" by donating a portion of your interest earned on securities in safekeeping. Even 25-50 percent of a security's return can make a big difference. That "slice" will be split between the Foundation's national programs and your local state credit union foundation for education and development initiatives. By giving a little, you are supporting a lot.
To learn more about the Foundation's activities and impact, read the "Slice of the Pie" brochure, or simply access one of the Commitment of Support Authorization forms to get started.
