October 2-4, 2017

Overview

Forty years ago, few credit union leaders would have predicted the Dow surpassing 21,000, when the 1977 high was 999. Nor would they have imagined 2017 federal debt topping $19 trillion, compared to $706 billion in 1977, or today's average cost of a new home at nearly $370,000, versus just $54,000 at that time.

Much has changed in 40 years, but one thing remains the same: credit unions' desire to gain rich economic perspective to support their annual strategic planning efforts. For hundreds of credit unions over the past four decades, Catalyst Corporate's annual Economic Forum has been the venue for achieving that goal.

This year's event will continue the momentum, blending strategic financial management insights with economic outlooks that credit unions count on year after year.

The first day, Catalyst Strategic Solutions will present two tracks of credit union-focused financial management education – one designed especially for credit union volunteers; the other for credit union management and staff. The next two days, highly-acclaimed economists and financial industry experts will give their views on different aspects of the economy – such as tax reform, consumer debt and emerging financial trends – and the implications for credit unions.

As these speakers forecast the next 12 months at the 2017 Economic Forum: Outlook 2018, imagine what it will be like in another 40 years!
